Indiana nun to become first U.S. saint in six years
In Terre Haute Indiana Pope Benedict XVI will canonize Blessed Mother Theodore Guerin the first U.S. saint since 2000. Guerin founded the Sisters of Providence at St Mary of the Woods and faced banishment by a Vincennes bishop before returning to lead schools and the college. The ceremony also honors Rosa Venerini and two 20th century clerics amid a backdrop of church sex abuse scandals in the United States.
