Suit Could Settle Christian Aletes Club Issue

A lawsuit over prayer policies in county schools may reach court after mediation. Lawyer David Ratchford and Robert Skolrood presented a proposal, claiming the policy would allow FCA club activities. About 150 attended the meeting cheering FCA supporters, including around 50 students. The board plans talks with attorney William Burkhalter and Ken Childs with an Oct 27 to Nov 10 deadline to decide next steps.

Innovative Yarn Plant Praised in Edgefield Ceremony

Edgefield hosts the dedication of the Stereoknit Rainsford Plant a 300 foot facility in the Edgefield Industrial Park. The nearly $40 million project started operations in June and will hire 80 with a yearly payroll around 2.35 million. dignitaries including Sen. Hollings Rep. Derrick and Sen. Thurmond praised the plant as a boon to Edgefield and South Carolina.

PALFED optimistic on third quarter earnings outlook

PALFED executives expect continuing improvement in the bank's financial condition when its third quarter results are released this week. Interim chair Albert Peters Jr. replaces Richard Herring after an internal audit flagged discrepancies.
