Aiken County Board of Education selects LS3P of the Southeast to design the Ridge Spring Monetta K-12 school. H G Reynolds Company Inc. of Aiken will manage construction. Funds come from the 1 percent sales tax approved in 2015 with 10 percent for tax relief. The district will open the middle school in fall 2017 and a Bettis Academy traffic light project was approved. Platinum ACT certificates were awarded to three local students and South Aiken High named a Blue Ribbon School.
Absentee voting has begun in Aiken County with in person sites at the government center and three satellite locations Jackson Town Hall Wagener Town Hall and North Augusta Community Center. Voters may qualify for absentee voting due to work away from precinct age 65 or older or physical disability. Hours listed 9 am to 5 pm weekdays and certain dates in October with photo ID required.
