Teen asks governor to stop jail transfer

A South Carolina teenager Christopher Pittman, now 17, asks Gov. Mark Sanford to halt his move to an adult prison for killing his grandparents when 12. Sanford's spokesman says treat him like other inmates. The South Carolina Supreme Court refused to halt the transfer as Pittman appeals his murder conviction.

Murderer charged with killing inmate at Lieber Prison

James C. Belli Jr. 19, serving 30 years for murder, was killed at Lieber Correctional Institution on Aug 24 after being stabbed. Jaquan Ferrell, 21, charged with murder, also serving 30 years for a Colleton County grocery store manager killing in 2003. Prosecutors seek death for another July 2005 stabbing.
