Former USC coach to work as NBA scout
Kentucky associate head coach George Felton resigned Tuesday to become a scout for the Indiana Pacers. Felton, 47, had been with UK since 1997, promoted from associate coach in August, and called UK basketball the finest program in the country. He said scouting for an NBA team is a lifelong goal and looks forward to a new career. Pacers president Donnie Walsh previously coached at South Carolina, where Felton played and later coached. Kentucky coach Tubby Smith thanked Felton for his contributions to UK’s success, noting the 1998 NCAA title as a high point.
