Aiken City Council approved a measure to raise salaries for the mayor and mayor pro tem while keeping council member pay at 3000 dollars. The plan raises the mayor to 9000 and the mayor pro tem to 6000 with biannual cost of living increases aligned to state law. Council member Don Sprawls opposed citing preferred per diem for appearances.
