S.C. Supreme Court halts same sex marriage licenses
The South Carolina Supreme Court ordered probate judges to stop issuing same sex marriage licenses while a federal case challenges the state ban. Charleston County and Richland County had begun accepting applications, but the 24 hour waiting period and pending court rulings delayed any licenses. Local couples Colleen Condon and Nichols Bleckley waited in Columbia and Charleston as officials weighed the appeal and federal law.
