Archways at Rye Patch Recall Duke of Windsor Visits
Archways at Rye Patch on Whiskey Road are remembered for privacy during the Duke of Windsor’s visits to the Rogers family estate in Aiken. The Rogers hosted Mrs. Simpson at Cannes and earlier entertained the Duke in the 1950s. The estate ties to Luke Hitchcock and Aiken’s era as a winter resort, with Travers and Taylor family connections noted in its history.
