Truck Explodes After Downing Power Lines Near Wagener
A Laney Truck Line tanker headed east from Wagener toward Salley lost control on South Carolina 39 and exploded. Driver Ronald Udell, 32, sustained burns and was hospitalized. The crash knocked down power lines, left Wagener and Salley without electricity and water, and a fire department crew from multiple towns responded.

Mayfields Condominiums Planned for Aiken City Block
Aiken plans a Mayfields condominium complex on a half acre at the northeast corner of Colleton and Chesterfield Avenues opposite Colleton from the Willcox Hotel and near Aiken Elementary School. The project by Col John Amasa May’s estate includes six units designed by German architect Rainer Urban and his firm Co-Plan Design Inc International. Urban and his wife Pam Moore designed the Mayfields logo and will list the four three bedroom units at 1650 square feet and two four bedroom units at 1800 square feet with a fenced site, trees, a deck, a barbecue grill, and inbuilt safe. The development is being marketed by Eulalie Salley and Company.
