Cardinal Cooke Dies At Age 62 In New York
Cardinal Terence Cooke, head of the New York Archdiocese, died at 4 45 am at his chancery residence. The 62 year old leader, spiritual head of about 1 8 million Catholics in the archdiocese and 2 million in the military, suffered from acute leukemia complicating a chronic lymphoma. He had guided a 10 county, fourth largest archdiocese while naming life defense as a focus. He became archbishop in 1968 succeeding Cardinal Spellman.

Man Already In Prison Charged In Holley Death
The Aiken County Sheriff's Department charged Willie James Dunbar 31 with murder over the death of William Richard Holley 32. A warrant was issued for Dunbar who is jailed at Central Correctional Institute in Columbia for housebreaking. Holley was found July 21, 1982, near New Ellenton with a fatal gunshot wound.
