West Wing tackles post tragedy episode with address to viewers
The West Wing’s third season opens with a bold post 9 11 episode titled Isaac and Ishmael in which Martin Sheen and the cast address the audience. NBC and executive producer Jett Zucker backed Aaron Sorkin’s plan to explore timely political issues while avoiding sensationalism. A three director team rushed production to air a two week earlier special focusing on a National Security Council meeting and the realities of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
