North Augusta Holds Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

North Augusta kicked off the season with the annual Christmas tree lighting in J C Calhoun Park on a brisk Monday night. The event featured the North Augusta High School Brass Ensemble, Frosty and Rudolph, and Santa arriving with candy canes, followed by an invite to next week’s Carols in the Park at 5 30 pm December 7 in Living History Park.

Aiken City Manager Roger LeDuc Gets Salary Raise

Aiken's city council unanimously approved a four percent raise for City Manager Roger LeDuc taking effect through December 1 raising his annual salary to about 89,900 with an extra 100 monthly vehicle allowance bringing total to 600 per month. Mayor Fred Cavanaugh noted LeDuc's pay compared favorably with other cities and council members praised his performance. The council also accepted Cherry, Bekaert and Holland's year ending June 30 audit showing no material errors, no management disagreements, and strong finances with five to six percent increases in cash. The audit noted 227 days of operating cash reserves, well above the 60 to 75 days deemed adequate.
