62 Employees To Be Laid Off At Fiberglas
Sixty two workers at Owens Corning Fiberglas in Aiken are to be laid off due to product mix shifts. Plant manager George Brelsford cites rising demand for wet chop roofing products as the cause. Last September ninety workers were cut as three furnaces shifted from yarn-type to wet chop production. At month end the Aiken plant employed 1,576 people and produced glass fiber and fiberglas roofing mat.
