Economy Grows At Fastest Pace Of Bush Term

A holiday survey of 27 Aiken County stations shows self serve regular unleaded at 96 cents, medium grade 1.09, premium 1.20 per gallon with regulars from 94 to 98 cents and mediums 1.02 to 1.14. AAA notes prices steady since Labor Day with SC averages around 1.04 regular and 1.16 medium while premium sits near 1.26. In Spartanburg SC the lowest self serve is 1.02 and Greenville the highest at 1.08. 80 percent of 127 stations in NC and SC open Thanksgiving, 29 percent 24 hours. Raleigh Durham Greensboro report 1.13 per gallon for regular unleaded in those cities under Clean Air Act oxygenated fuel rollout.
