Benjamin and Betty Mims were convicted of aggravated assault and battery but acquitted of second-degree lynching in a Charleston County case. Citadel officials say they learned months later that cadet Ira Singleton in a pretrial intervention program for a similar charge was involved with the case of an 8 year old girl.
