War Torn Christmas at Oakley Park Museum Edgefield
A lantern tour and historical drama titled War Torn Christmas will unfold at Oakley Park Museum in Edgefield on Saturday. Tours run 10 am to 4 pm with lantern scenes at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 pm. tickets cost 8 for adults and 5 for students, proceeds benefit the museum.

Security Federal reports 1997 second quarter earnings rise
Security Federal Corp parent of Security Federal Savings Bank posted net income of 434000 for the quarter ended Sept 30 1997 or 104 per share versus a 177135 loss or 43 cents per share a year earlier. Six month earnings reached 855000 or 205 per share, up from 101365 or 25 cents. The core earnings gain stems from higher net interest income and core operating income. The bank also opened drive through ATMs in North Augusta and Langley and plans an ATM for Richland Avenue by Jan 1998. In school banking programs Looney Junes Savings Club In-School Banking Centers operate in several area elementary schools with more planned before year end.
