University challenged over bed need denial in Aiken plan
DHEC rejected the University hospital’s bid for 50 general beds, backing Aiken Regional’s 14 bed need per the 2012-13 State Health Plan. The agency found University failed to show a community need and noted population growth and business influx did not justify a new general acute care hospital. Burr disputed the ruling.
