Auto park may not bring as many jobs as estimated
Greenville reports that Clemson University’s automotive research park could create up to 20 000 jobs but experts warn the figure may be optimistic. The International Center for Automotive Research might reach a national park average of about 3 500 jobs. BMW plans a 80 000 square foot IT research center with 40 to 50 initial staff, joined by IBM Microsoft and Michelin with uncertain roles. Clemson also plans a wind tunnel and labs for electronics, safety, fuel economy, and alternative fuels.
