Fidel Castro addressed 20,000 people in Concepcion criticizing U.S. dominance in Latin America. He praised the Soviet Union for saving the Cuban revolution and called Washington a greedy colossus seeking to impose exploitation and slavery of raw materials.
Toyota Motor Co denied reports that it is designing a cheap throwaway car to be discarded after one year. The company said it is not considering such a vehicle and is instead focused on improving existing models.
At the Paris peace conference the United States and South Vietnam urged Hanoi to reply constructively to allied proposals. Xuan Thuy returned to the sessions for the first time since September 16 as U S Ambassador William J Porter stated the allies seek a constructive reply and insisted the United States would not walk out despite questions about a stance.

Leighton seeks 100000 in damages for back injuries and bruises as Borgnine’s fourth wife Donna Anna filed for divorce.
John Cardinal Krol of Philadelphia elected president of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and the United States Catholic Conference. He will serve a three year term succeeding Cardinal Dearden of Detroit as head of the bishops and the church administration.
The Aiken County Welfare Board, in a closed meeting, elected Lee Barnes of White Pond as chairman and Ed Seigler of North Augusta as vice chairman. Former chair Van Zile was ousted after the session, which lasted about 10 minutes behind the county building.

The State Law Enforcement Division has taken over the investigation of a fatal shooting in Orangeburg. John Henry Walley, 17, was killed by a shotgun pellet in the neck as Officer Ralph Drawdy tried to apprehend three youths who broke into a laundry. Drawdy is suspended pending inquiry.
The Aiken County Museum on Chesterfield Street hosts a dedication ceremony at 8 p m to unveil portraits and plaques honoring two local historians. Mrs S Perrin Toole and Mrs John H Staubes will reveal plaques for their late spouses while officials and the NROTC color presentation add formality to the event.
