Habitat for Humanity honors local groups and volunteers

The Aiken County Habitat for Humanity awarded numerous local groups and individuals for assisting affordable housing. Winners span categories such as resale store, publicity and fundraising, family outreach, construction, and volunteers. Sponsors for 2002 homes include churches and civic groups. outgoing board members and special recognitions were also noted.

Aiken County Coroner reports October death cases

The Aiken County Coroner's Office handled 69 death cases in October with three autopsies. Of the deaths, 68 were natural deaths, one homicide, and two accidents. One accident from a fall and another from an unspecified cause. Causes for two deaths pending. Thirty-two male and thirty females. Daytime deaths 35 and nighttime 34.
