York County secession drive faces cautious towns leaders
A York County grouping seeks to break away with York and nearby towns Clover Sharon Hickory Grove Smyrna and McConnells to form a new county or join Cherokee County over rural zoning plans. Mayors of the towns say they are not ready to commit and will wait on county planners proposals due in early 1986. The push follows a county development plan and district changes that favor Rock Hill. A Dec 9 rural meeting at Hickory Grove Elementary is noted.
