New York Times CBS poll of 1,659 adults conducted Nov 6 to 10 shows 50 percent believe the Geneva summit will improve U S Soviet relations and a third expect an arms control agreement. Seventy five percent see Reagan as genuinely wanting an arms deal while 47 percent trust Gorbachev. Only 17 percent view both leaders as willing to compromise.
South Carolina residents can call the College of Charleston Halley hotline at 792-4824 for a taped update on the comet. The service started Thursday and runs through next April as Halley's visible window continues. The Naval Observatory also offers a public hotline at 1-202-653-0258 for updates on viewing locations. Dr. Bill Kubinek announced the college line will guide callers to good viewing spots.
