Ronnie F Judy, a St George farmer, sues Dorchester County and its purchasing agent claiming county negligence allowed 11 cows to die after escaping onto Interstate 95. The suit says county workers dug a drainage canal in fall 1988 and cows escaped through a fence opening in February 1989.
A dredge named Clinton sank in the Cooper River when a pump pipe fitting the size of a manhole cover blew out flooding the vessel with about 6000 gallons. The incident occurred near the Naval Weapons Station South Annex Transportation Command Dock amid investigations into the cause.
