New York candy firm backs grand fund to end wealth

A New York candy manufacturer backs a plan to establish a perpetual fund in Hoonac Falls with $100 and a $1000 yearly payment to Princeton University. The fund grows toward $9,000 millions in 600 years, then could absorb national wealth. In 1914 NYSE membership valued at $34,000. 11,000 members now worth over 600 millions with a bid to add 100 seats at half a million each. Kealy notes higher values from herd work.

Leisure and science of living in a restless age

Otto H. Kahn spoke at George Peabody College in Nashville on November 2, 1928, about rapid social change, the rise of leisure, and using leisure wisely. He urged varied, intense work, broad interests, and avoiding routine, warning against becoming machines yet stressing one primary vocation. He cited Dean Inge and noted the value of personal growth and humane perspective.
