The DOE may store commercial spent fuel at the Barnwell Nuclear Fuel Plant as an away from reactor facility but will not reprocess government fuel. A review process and cost study are under way, with no decision until completion. The plant's owner Allied General Nuclear Services previously received funding for R D work amid opposition from South Carolina's delegation.
