North Augusta Teen Charged In Bomb Case
An 18 year old North Augusta man, Robert Hamilton Smith Jr., surrendered after being charged with attempting to damage property with an explosive device found atop Hammond Hills Elementary School. The pipe bomb carried power of half a stick of dynamite and could have caused severe damage. Smith said the bomb was part of a July 4 fireworks display and that he ordered the fuse by mail. He is out on a $1000 bond.
