Wives comfort and peanuts in old South tales mix
A fragment page mixes a quip about wives as comforters for football fans with a humorous note on peanuts or goober status in the South. The long column then shifts to a legal history about James Augustus Black, a state agent hired in 1856 to pursue war claims against the U.S. government, detailing petitions, legislative resolutions, and claims from the Revolutionary, Mexican, and War of 1812 periods, plus financial figures and archival references.
