PGA Tour halves playoffs to prep for Ryder Cup next season
The PGA Tour policy board approved a two week break in the FedEx Cup playoffs to keep players fresh for the Ryder Cup at Valhalla. U S captain Paul Azinger said the move helps avoid fatigue for the American team while Europe could be at Valhalla. Tim Finchem noted the plan lets players prepare for both the Ryder Cup and Tour Championship. Tiger Woods missed the opener yet still won the FedEx Cup.
