Southern Revolutionary War site celebrated Ninety Six battle
Local historians mark the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Williamson's Fort at Ninety Six to highlight the southern start of the Revolutionary War. Park Service historian Eric Williams notes the South's pivotal role, while Marvin Cann of Lander University argues Ninety Six better reflects wartime reality than Lexington and Concord. Preservation efforts grow for sites at Cowpens, Kings Mountain, Ninety Six, Camden and Fort Moultrie.
