Greenville AP. The Norfolk and Western 611 steam locomotive completes its final Eastern runs this weekend. Engineer Jack Taylor and a crew will operate Saturday to Toccoa, Georgia, and Sunday to Asheville, North Carolina, in trips sponsored by the Greenville Chapter of the Railroad Museum. Built 1950, donated to Roanoke Museum in 1959, refurbished 1982 by W. Graham Claytor Jr. After Claytor’s death, N S officials say the expense cannot be justified.

Ronnie Kirk found Mrs Boatwright's body along the Edisto River and deputies recovered her husband in the river. The couple in their 40s lived at 934 Mount Calvary Church Road Ridge Spring. Investigators seek a burgundy 1982 Camaro with plate BXZ 718 and search a bridge upriver for clues on whether the bodies were discarded there. Deaths under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
Wagener sets qualifying for the late Mayor James Brown's unexpired term to begin November 25 at noon and run through December 5. The election to fill the remainder is scheduled January 31. Lina Gantt and Maradell Ray face unopposed races for Town Council Seats 1 and 2 in the December 6 vote. Mayor Brown died November 5 ending a term due in December 198.
