Authorities seek a young man linked to two weekend armed robberies in Aiken. In one he demanded a purse from an elderly woman at Aiken Nursing Home. in another three men approached a driver near Newberry Street and a gunman fired as the victim fled. No injuries reported.
The Aiken City Council will receive the fiscal 1983 84 audit report during its regular meeting on the second floor of the Municipal Building at 7 30 p m. The council will consider providing 8000 for the city's 150th anniversary celebration and bids for uniforms and shoes for public safety and fertilizer for parkways and Hopeland Gardens. It will review a Hitchcock Parkway speed limit reduction request and appointments to city boards and commissions.
A frost or freeze warning is in effect tonight with very cold conditions and clear skies. Expect a low in the upper 20s and northwest winds under 10 mph. Tomorrow will be sunny and slightly warmer with a high in the lower 60s.

In Boston about 500 gathered at the Statehouse Hall of Flags including veterans in Vietnam World War II and Korean War uniforms. Washington DC crowds at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial heard President Reagan and Defense Secretary Weinberger stress sacrifice healing and remembrance.
Sheriff Ralph Gunnells will not file a protest after losing to Republican Carrol Heath by about 1,800 votes. Liz Cooper is certified winner of Aiken County Clerk of Court after a state mandated recount at USC Aiken, with Cooper receiving 17,981 votes to Christensen 17,601.
The Aiken County Board of Education will open bids tomorrow for three new elementary schools to be built within the year. The meeting is at 7 30 p m at Midland Valley High School with bids opening moved to 3 p m in the board room. District leaders will review bids and discuss plans like a new wing at North Augusta High as ninth grade moves to the middle school concept next year.
Aiken County Council postpones a planned 7 p.m. meeting with the Aiken County Public Service Authority to discuss alleged PSA failures as an audit is prepared. First reading will be given to proposed industrial development bonds for Foster Industries in Wagener, Beloit Manhattan in Aiken Verenes Park, and Builders Transport Inc.
