The Aiken City Council will hear a Monday request to lower Hitchcock Parkway speed limit from 55 to 45 mph. Meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building second floor conference room. Also proposes $8,000 to start the 150th anniversary celebration committee with other items on the agenda.
Researchers at an International Workshop report a rapid advance in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment driven by monoclonal antibodies and nuclear magnetic resonance scanning. The approach uses antibodies to target tumors and NMR to produce detailed imaging for better diagnostic accuracy. The anti cancer pair could improve survival in a disease claiming about 40 thousand American lives each year.
Forecast calls for a warmer night with lows in the 40s and a high in the low 70s tomorrow. Chance of showers or thundershowers at football games is 30 percent.
