Governor Mc Leod ordered a new phase of the probe. Six prisoners from Aiken jail were moved to Columbia for questioning at the state penitentiary while kept incommunicado. The group includes two whites and four negroes with varied sentences. additional affidavits were taken as investigators questioned Roberson Chamberlin Rouse and Worley.
