Frank P. Henderson won the mayoral nomination by five votes over rivals in Monday's municipal primary in Aiken. Aldermen elected were Staubes Plunkett Walter Duches. a second council race will be held next Monday. Henderson led with 452 votes, Gaston 413, Dr. Johnson 34. council results show Staubes 566 and Plunkett 623 among others.

Negroes Take Action To Prevent Escape
Florence Hill a negro woman was shot and killed by Charlie Hazel a negro on the J A McElmurray place in Beech Island Saturday night. Hazel was captured by Sheriff Robinson and jailed. The coroner opened an inquest Sunday. Witnesses said shots came through a barricaded door as Hill fled. Hazel fired through the door hitting Hill in the neck. Hazel had been drinking and hid in a farm house before armed local residents confronted the danger. Sheriff Robinson praised the community for taking action to prevent Hazel’s escape. Also note the Flower Show at Highland Park Hotel next Wednesday from 5 to 8 o clock.

Prohibition Raid Nets Seven Arrests in Wagoner County

About two hundred members attended the district meeting of the Council of Farm Women at the Aiken Hotel.
