South Carolina Revenue Forecast Buoys Budget Planning
State Board of Economic Advisors projects 2007 general fund revenues to rise by 466.9 million with another 240 million uplift in the current year. Strong income and sales tax gains from July to October drive the increase, while budget writers weigh use of one time funds and potential debt relief as lawmakers weigh higher Medicaid costs and school funding needs. Governor Sanford credits tax cuts for small businesses amid Democratic criticism of economic stats.
