GM Executive and Wife Abducted in Michigan Home Raid
FBI said Glenn E Tarr and Wanda Tarr, GM executives, were abducted after their Rochester Hills home was ransacked at about 5 30 a m while neighbors reported a break in. Their two cars vanished along with guns liquor jewelry and part of a coin collection. Investigators described the case as an abduction though the situation remained unresolved.

Outbreak of Rare Disease Prompted Probe Across States
Federal and state health officials on Friday investigated an outbreak of eosinophilia, a rare and sometimes fatal blood disorder. Thirty-one cases had been reported in six states, with 21 in New Mexico, as investigators consider a possible link to L-Tryptophan, an amino acid dietary supplement. Symptoms include muscle pain, fatigue, fever, and rashes.

Helicopters Help In Stopping Fire Near Pacific Palisades
Los Angeles authorities said a brush fire above Pacific Palisades was halted after residents cleared brush and helicopters dropped water. The morning blaze burned about 90 acres of chaparral in Santa Ynez Canyon amid hot dry weather. Within hours four additional fires, including a 200 acre blaze that threatened ranches near Lancaster, were contained.

Power supply issue returns to Aiken council
A rewritten power supply ordinance will reach first reading before the Aiken City Council Monday. The measure, revised after a contest by Aiken Electric Cooperative, would let Aiken Electric serve 13 annexed areas it already serves and permit new customers under a non exclusive five year renewal. The dispute arose after a state Supreme Court injunction delayed action and halted a public hearing and second reading.
