Experts dispute image of Northwest as breeding ground for serial killers
Seattle experts challenge the notion that the Northwest is a hotbed of serial murder after reports tying John Allen Muhammad and accomplice John Lee Malvo to a multi state sniper spree. They note regional murder rates are not extraordinary and criticize profiling methods and racial age assumptions in the case. Washington deaths average about a quarter thousand annually, with many crimes by strangers but overall not out of line with national trends.
