Michigan pilot jailed for six months in Aiken drug flight

Lawrence R. Goethals 35 of Polasky Michigan pleaded to possession with intent to distribute after piloting a marijuana laden light plane into Aiken County March 24. He received six months in jail and a $5,000 fine with three years probation and possible license loss. the plane has been seized and awaiting Civil Aeronautics final disposition.

Man Charged With Three Robberies

Augusta man James Haynes, 22, was arrested by the Aiken County Sheriff's Department and charged with three counts of armed robbery. He was taken into custody at the Pantry on Pisgah Road in North Augusta and charged in the 7-11 in Belvedere and a Richmond County store. Arresting deputies were Mark Jones, George Hashell, and Chuck Reinert. Haynes resides on Broad Street.
