Lawrence R. Goethals 35 of Polasky Michigan pleaded to possession with intent to distribute after piloting a marijuana laden light plane into Aiken County March 24. He received six months in jail and a $5,000 fine with three years probation and possible license loss. the plane has been seized and awaiting Civil Aeronautics final disposition.

State Law Enforcement Division seized ballots cast in Bamberg Barnwell and Edgefield counties amid a court order from Circuit Judge Julius Baggett at the request of state Rep Norma Russell. Unofficial returns show Russell narrowly ahead of Billy Caughman with recount likely unless the Democrat waives. Voters also from Aiken and Lexington counties participated.
Aiken County Republican Party chair Joe Dunkin says a decision this weekend on protesting results in precincts 2 and 4. He alleges improper poll worker conduct and voter interference during Tuesday's election. Democrats say he harassed staff at other precincts and took photos.

Augusta man James Haynes, 22, was arrested by the Aiken County Sheriff's Department and charged with three counts of armed robbery. He was taken into custody at the Pantry on Pisgah Road in North Augusta and charged in the 7-11 in Belvedere and a Richmond County store. Arresting deputies were Mark Jones, George Hashell, and Chuck Reinert. Haynes resides on Broad Street.
