A weekend search of a residence tied to Ian Aiken led to the seizure of four ounces of cocaine four pounds of marijuana and 437 in cash plus several checks. Vestos Gerald Walker of 107 Brentwood Place was arrested by the Aiken County Sheriff's Department with ADPS also involved in the operation.
A New Ellenton man Lloyd Voyles, 55, remains in critical condition at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital after a head on collision on U S 278 in Aiken County Sunday morning. His two passengers, Paul Evans and Dennis Brock, were also injured. Evans is in stable condition and Brock was treated and released. The other driver, Terry Givens, 27, of Williston, is listed in serious condition at the Medical College hospital. No charges have been filed.

Tomorrow marks the end of the campaign trail for 1964 hopefuls as 52,680 registered Aiken County voters choose a US president, US Senate, Third District House member, three state Senate seats, six state House seats, sheriff, solicitor, coroner, clerk of court, treasurer, registrar, auditor, probate judge, council chairs and boards. Polls open 8 am to 7 pm with sampling ballots and amendments detailed in pages 4D through 6D.
Mondale urged Black and Hispanic voters to surge to the polls as Reagan campaigns neared California finish. Polls predicted a Reagan landslide with hopes of Republican gains in House seats. Reagan softened tax talk, while Mondale campaigned in Memphis and Texas.
South Carolinians are expected to turnout for the general election with polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Some advise arriving early, temperatures predicted 30 to 45 degrees with no rain. Voters will choose president, U.S. senator, six congressmen, 46 state senators, 124 state representatives, and other officials, with high-interest races statewide and potential gains for Republicans in the Senate and House. The Reagan Mondale race dominates attention as voters face three ballot options for third parties and a direct vote for presidential electors for the first time. Strom Thurmond seeks re election against Melvin Purvis, with Libertarian and write in candidates also on the ballot. congressional races show incumbents favored in the six seats.
NORTH AUGUSTA The North Augusta City Council will hear the third and final reading on the annexation of BTC properties. The meeting will review zoning impacts and public objections before approval or rejection. Decisions could affect service boundaries and tax allocations for the district.
North Augusta plans a BTC incubator site at East Martintown Road and US1 with 3 acre BTC at Buena Vista area. Agenda includes second reading of leash law requiring dog restraint, aligning non resident business rates with residents, and a height limit ordinance for city buildings.
