Washington AP reports that President-elect Carter may clash with Federal Reserve Board Chairman Arthur Burns over inflation and unemployment policy. Burns, 72, leads a powerful body shaping interest rates and monetary supply, complicating Carter’s plan to accelerate the economy without boosting inflation.
South Carolina's eight Democratic presidential electors will meet in the Secretary of State's office on December 13 at 11 a.m. to cast votes for president and vice president. Secretary O Frank Thornton notified the electors of the December meeting following the presidential election.
Rhodesia's white rulers signal possible advancement of a transition period to transfer power to blacks within months. Black leaders demand a one year deadline while Britain proposed 17 months for administrative and constitutional arrangements.
