Absentees Eligible For City Election In Aiken
The Aiken city clerk announces absentee voting hours at 214 Park Avenue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday to allow qualified registered voters to obtain forms and ballots for Tuesday's city election. Ballots must be returned by noon Monday. Sheriff Outlines Changes At Jail In Aiken County
The Aiken County Detention Center will get a new locking system a 90 111 price tag a 10 foot perimeter fence and a grating system. The jail will implement eight hour per day cell time limits and shuffle inmates to accommodate Southeastern Control Systems Inc. work. Roanoke Iron & Bridge Works had a lower bid but Southeastern’s package covers more security upgrades. Three officers were on duty during the recent breakout and two inmates remain at large with no third shift nights to follow.
