CDC researchers warn millions may live in homes with radon levels above guidelines. In southeastern Pennsylvania near uranium deposits several houses show excessive radon, suggesting a broader national issue. As exposure rises with time, lung cancer risk increases.
Federal study concludes women under 45 who used oral contraceptives have no greater breast cancer risk than nonusers. Researchers from CDC and NIH say risk does not depend on starting age or duration of use. Dr. Bruce V. Stadel notes the finding applies to the last 20 years of use.
