Aiken couple charged in child neglect case
Aiken Public Safety arrested Charles F. Pope and Rose Marie F. Pope on one count each of unlawful neglect of a child. Investigators found a home with no running water, exposed wiring, holes in the floor, and limited food. The girl was placed in emergency protective custody with DSS.

Nine feared dead on state roads during holiday weekend
State patrol reports at least nine fatal crashes across South Carolina over the Memorial Day period. In Aiken County no fatalities were recorded. Barnwell County reported one death, Bradley S.
