Children and dogs hold off Idaho lawmen in standoff
In Sandpoint Idaho six children aged 8 to 16 refused to leave their rural home after deputies arrested their mother for felony injury to a child. A pack of more than 20 dogs was released, hunting and fending off officers during a two hour standoff before deputies retreated to defuse the situation. The house lacks basic utilities and the children have been self sufficient for about a year under the care of an absent father and an aunt who aided authorities.
