Success By Six program eyed by Aiken officials
United Way of Aiken County President Carol McCormack outlined issues and opportunities the Success By Six program addresses. She cited an 80 percent drop in children being hit through pairing developmentally appropriate care with parenting classes and stressed the need for nutrition stimulation and nurturing before age six to ensure readiness for first grade. GALEF director Diane Mangiante called for hard data on why children aren’t ready, while United Way board chair Scott Hunter praised local school leadership and expressed optimism for the program’s impact on school readiness. Dr. Linda Eldridge, the local superintendent, said the community can achieve these goals.
