The Senate voted 55 to 27 to authorize an extra $1.5 billion for the International Development Association to fund four years of loans to the world's poorest nations. South Carolina senators Hollings and Thurmond were among those opposing the measure.
Los Angeles coroner’s office says no inquest will be conducted into the shootout deaths of six Symbionese Liberation Army members. William Wolfe’s father Dr L S Wolfe sought an inquest and pressed the demand with the help of the ACLU, which is weighing the request.
Vice President Gerald R. Ford urged the House Judiciary Committee to digest the 19 tapes and 23 transcripts already on hand before requesting additional White House material for the impeachment inquiry. He called the request premature and said more tapes should not be sought now.

The Baltimore Sun reports President Nixon was levied a 5 percent negligence penalty by the IRS on back taxes totaling 432,787 dollars plus interest. The Sun cited sources familiar with the case and noted the exact penalty amount could not be determined.
Searchers recovered 18 bodies after a coal mine collapse at Kohan 110 miles east of Seoul. Seven bodies were found Wednesday and 11 more this morning as a 100 foot section of the pit gave way nearly 5,000 feet inside. Investigators cite sudden water leakage as the likely cause.

The Aiken County Board of Education unanimously approves a 17.6 million dollar budget for 1974 75 with projected expenditures totaling 17 642 991 an increase of 1 334 394 from last year. Local revenue is down 132 034 due to lower property tax collection while state funds rise by 82 447 and federal funds by 510 818.
Kissinger arrived in Cairo after a 33 day peace mission and a senior U.S. official said the Israel Syria cease fire would take effect on signing day. More than 1,700 workers at the Owens-Corning Fiberglas plant went on strike after Teamsters Local 86 voted 638 to 141 against a three-year contract.
