Jet ferry The Cat inspires awe and fear on test run
The Cat a $44 million jet powered car ferry built in Australia, tested from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth Nova Scotia, reaching 50 mph with full load and up to 58 mph light. Spectators watched as passengers gambled and socialized aboard the 500 ton vessel capable of stopping quickly, easing fears it could harm lobster boats or whales.
