Senate leader John Drummond warned lawmakers may extend into a continuing resolution if a compromise on the 4.9 billion budget is not reached by Tuesday night. South Carolina’s April unemployment rose to 2.9 percent in Aiken County and 2.4 percent statewide, with trade adding 8,400 jobs and services adding 6,900 as tourism slows. Government jobs fell by 500 while Marlboro County led with 8.2 percent. Greenville and Lexington tied for the lowest rate at 1.2 percent.
