Memorial Day weekend claims 12 lives on state highways

South Carolina Public Safety reports twelve fatalities over the Memorial Day period, including five motorcycle deaths. In Aiken County, Joshua Stephen Smith 22 Wagener and Amanda Stewart 17 Warrenville died when their motorcycle left the road. Roderick Breen Rolland 25 Johnston died in a rollover. State tax credit aims to help preserve historic properties

About 19 000 properties are eligible for a state tax credit approved by the General Assembly to encourage preservation. The plan offers a 25 percent credit for historic residential properties and 10 percent for commercial properties, applied over five years.
