Indictment for Koon Altered to Strangulation and Stabbing
The Koon murder indictment in Aiken County was amended to describe Mrs. Newsome being killed by strangulation and stabbing amid aggravated kidnapping. Original and revised wording are essentially the same in substance. The case file was sealed following a defense request to bar a pre trial hearing. Newsome, a Martinez resident, was abducted from an Augusta parking lot and found in a remote wooded area after a month long search.

Rattlesnake Bite Sends Aiken Man To Hospital
Aikenite Robert L. Dotter was bitten on the hand by a rattlesnake at his horse farm near Richardson and Silver Bluff roads. He tried to grasp the snake with his hand after a failed attempt with a stick, shot the snake, and went to Talmadge Hospital where doctors expect a quick recovery.
